The truth is, hypnotherapy was never a subject of interest for me. Like most people, my exposure to "hypnosis" was pretty much limited to scenes from weird movies and seeing "crazy" stage hypnotists on TV claiming to be "miracle workers." So, when I happened upon this subject on my own healing journey, I was surprised that what I was doing was counted as hypnotherapy at all.

At the time, I had begun to study the Qur'an more deeply, and along with the prophetic teachings, I found Allah's Words deeply healing, emotionally and spiritually. So, it came as a surprise to me that so much of what I was learning about hypnotherapy was rooted in what I'd already learned about self-healing from my faith.

If I were to summarize in one sentence how hypnotherapy and Islam overlap, it is this life-changing concept: You are your own divine intervention.

In other words, whatever is ailing you (physically or emotionally) and whatever is causing your deepest worry, anxiety, or stress, in all likelihood, here's what's really going on: Your Merciful Creator has already placed inside your own body and mind the tools you need to better your life, heal yourself, and enjoy the most soul-nourishing emotional and spiritual wellness.
